Think of a vending machine. You put a question in, one answer comes out, and it waits for the next coin. That is a chatbot. It is still useful. An AI agent is closer to an employee. You hand it a goal, like “find me three suppliers.” It breaks the goal into steps. It uses tools, like search, email, and your files. It checks its own work. Then it comes back with the finished thing. The brain inside can be the exact same AI. The job changed. You gave it a goal, tools, and the OK to keep working until the job is done.

- Pick one small, real task. Something like “write a follow-up email to the client who went quiet.”
- Paste this: “Here is my goal: [your task]. First, list the steps you would take. Then do step one only, show me the result, and wait for my OK before the next step.”
- Say OK after each step. Notice what changes: it plans, it works, and it waits at the gate for you. That is agent behavior, on training wheels.
