So, how accurate is ChatGPT?
Nobody can give you one honest number, and you should be careful with anyone who does. On some jobs it is right almost every time. On other jobs it makes things up. And here is the part that burns people: it delivers the mistake in the same calm, sure voice as the truth. The wrong answer does not look wrong. So the people who use AI well ask a better question: how would I catch it when it is wrong? Then they build the catching into the work, the way you just played it. A draft is only as good as the gauntlet it passed.
The recipe
How to check AI work in three moves.
First, ask for receipts. End your ask with: list every fact in your answer and mark the ones you are not sure about. The tool is surprisingly honest about its own doubt when you ask. Second, check the load-bearing claim. Every answer has one sentence that ruins everything if it is wrong. Find that one and check it yourself. Two minutes, most days. Third, never let the AI grade its own homework in the same chat. Open a fresh chat, paste the draft in, and say: you are a strict checker, find every claim that could be wrong. A fresh pair of AI eyes catches what the first pair defended.
